End of the Line Graffestival 2019 – 21st-22nd September

After attending the superb High Vis Fest in Birmingham a few weeks prior, I’d an appetite for more street art so was chuffed to discover End of the Line’s Graffestival happening at the Nomadic Community Gardens in Shoreditch.

They’ve run some six such events, otherwise as part of the global Meeting of Styles movement as last year and in the gardens; sadly the gardens’ lease is being sold on so it’s in its final weeks – but there’s very much a spirit of celebration and making the most of it while it lasts. Check out what was going on in the gallery below…

En route to the Nomadic Community Gardens…
The way in… Mini sound system pumping out tunes…

Diverse works, most in progress or just completed…

The ‘main stage’: Amazing piece of collaborative art happening…

The main stage by the DJ area with beatboxing on the go. That there’s headliners Hobbit and (I’m pretty sure) Ballzee, with others following and collaborating – absolutely superb stuff and the crowd are loving it.

Then the DJs are off again, serving up their latest picks for everyone’s enjoyment but then dropping some old school dance cheese such as Lou Bega’s Mambo No. 5. Everyone’s loving it…

And every festival ought to have a fire…

The near-complete wall with the artists taking a break to chill and watch the entertainment from a lofty vantage…

Close in on the central piece by Balstroem – stunning stuff…

A last few pieces on the way out…

All round a smashing afternoon – I’d like to have stayed longer, but at least there’s a last hurrah at the gardens next weekend. As ever thanks and respect to End of the Line and much love to the Nomadic Community Gardens: hopefully they’ll prove to be nomadic in a way they’ve yet to be and find a new non-nomadic home for a similar or longer period before long.
