The first instalment of an adventure featuring stolen books, secret agents and forbidden societies – think Doctor Who with librarian spies!
The redoubtable Irene is a spy for the secretive Library. And along with her enigmatic assistant Kai, she’s posted to an alternative London. Their mission: to retrieve a dangerous book. But when they arrive, it’s already been stolen. And London’s underground factions seem prepared to fight to the death to find her book.
Adding to the jeopardy, this world is also chaos-infested – so the laws of nature have been bent to allow supernatural creatures and unpredictable magic. As Irene juggles a heady mix of danger and clues, she finds out her assistant is hiding secrets of his own. While she’s up to her eyebrows in thieves and murderers, the stakes rise. For this assignment could endanger the Library – and the nature of reality itself.

THE THRILLING CONCLUSION TO THE HEAVEN’S GATE TRILOGY
The uprising in Heaven is at an end and Paradise has fallen, becoming the forty-third state of America. Now angels and demons must learn to get along with humans.
The rest of the world is in uproar. How can America claim the afterlife as its own? It’s certainly going to try as the President sets out for the town of Wormwood for talks with its governor, the man they call Lucifer.
Hell has problems of its own. There’s a new evangelist walking its roads, trying to bring the penitent to paradise, and a new power is rising. Can anyone stand up to the Godkiller?
Guy Adams is the author of the fantasy novels The World House and its sequel Restoration, as well as the Deadbeat series from Titan Books. He has also written two Torchwood novels, for BBC Books; and The Case Notes of Sherlock Holmes, a fictional facsimile of a scrapbook kept by Doctor John Watson, published in association with the estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the writer’s birth.
The Steampunk-Western-Horror concludes!
Guy Adams’s series has been a daredevil tale of enormous ambition.
“I could not put The Good, The Bad and The Infernal down, it was too gripping a tale. And it is further proof Mr. Adams is one of the leading modern authors of fantastic literature.” – Daily-Steampunk.com
“Splendid action-packed set-pieces… the real joy of the novel, though, lies in its vivid cast of characters” – Starburst Magazine

Flamboyant Matthew Cannonbridge was touched by genius, the most influential mind of the 19th century, a novelist, playwright, the poet of his generation. The only problem is, he should never have existed, and recently-divorced 21st-century don Toby Judd is the only person to realise something is wrong with history.
Cannonbridge was everywhere: he was by Lake Geneva when talk between Byron, Shelley and Mary Godwin turned to the supernatural; he was friend to the young Dickens as he laboured in the blacking factory; he was the only man of note to visit Wilde in prison. His extraordinary life spanned a century.
But as the world prepares to toast the bicentenary of Cannonbridge’s most celebrated work, Judd’s discovery leads him on a breakneck chase across the English canon and countryside, to the realisation that the spectre of Matthew Cannonbridge, planted so seamlessly into the heart of the 19th-century, might not be so dead and buried after all…

Carter has been kidnapped. Enslaved. But he’s determined to fight to the end.
Jacob is a pacifist. His family destroyed. He’s about to choose the path of violence to reclaim his son.
Their world has changed for ever. Between them, they’re going to avenge it.
Jacob Carnehan has settled down. He’s living a comfortable, quiet life, obeying the law and minding his own business while raising his son Carter… on those occasions when he isn’t having to bail him out of one scrape or another. His days of adventure are – thankfully – long behind him.
Carter Carnehan is going out of his mind with boredom. He’s bored by his humdrum life, frustrated that his father won’t live a little, and longs for the bright lights and excitement of anywhere-but-here. He’s longing for an opportunity to escape, and test himself against whatever the world has to offer.
Carter is going to get his opportunity. He’s caught up in a village fight, kidnapped by slavers and, before he knows it, is swept to another land. A lowly slave, surrounded by technology he doesn’t understand, his wish has come true: it’s him vs. the world. He can try to escape, he can try to lead his fellow slaves, or he can accept the inevitable and try to make the most of the short, brutal existence remaining to him.
… unless Jacob gets to him first and, no matter the odds, he intends to. No one kidnaps his son and gets away with it – and if it come to it, he’ll force Kings to help him on his way, he’ll fight, steal, blackmail and betray his friends in the name of bringing Carter home.
Wars will be started. Empires will fall. And the Carnehan family will be reunited, one way or another…

A sequel to Jules Verne’s classic novel? Or something else entirely? A wonderful collaboration between Adam Roberts and illustrator Mahendra Singh.
It is 1958 and France’s first nuclear submarine, Plongeur, leaves port for the first of its sea trials. On board, gathered together for the first time, one of the Navy’s most experienced captains and a tiny skeleton crew of sailors, engineers and scientists.
The Plongeur makes her first dive and goes down, and down and down… Out of control, the submarine plummets to a depth where the pressure will crush her hull, killing everyone on board, and beyond.
The pressure builds, the hull protests, the crew prepare for death, the boat reaches the bottom of the sea and finds… nothing.
Her final dive continues, the pressure begins to relent, but the depth gauge is useless. They have gone miles down. Hundreds of miles, thousands…
And so it goes on. And on board the crew succumb to madness, betrayal, religious mania and murder. Has the Plongeur left the limits of our world and gone elsewhere?
Contains 33 full-page pen and ink illustrations by acclaimed artist Mahendra Singh, who previously illustrated an edition of THE HUNTING OF THE SNARK.
Adam Roberts and Mahendra Singh have revisited Jules Verne’s classic SF novel, and together they have come up with a unique vision.

ON BEHALF OF QUEEN, COUNTRY . . . AND THE PERFECT POT OF TEA

But India has more than just tea on offer. Rue stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier’s wife and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves. Faced with a dire crisis and an embarrassing lack of bloomers, what else is a young lady of good breeding to do but turn metanatural and find out everyone’s secrets, even thousand-year-old fuzzy ones?

Caeli-Amur: an ancient city harbouring hidden mysteries, ruled by three warring Houses. Once, the gods used magic - or thaumaturgy – to create reality. Now, under the oppression of the controlling classes, that magic seems like a dream.
But things are changing in Caeli-Amur. Ancient minotaurs arrive for the traditional Festival of the Sun and New-Men bring wondrous technology from their homeland. Hideously disfigured Wastelanders stream into the city and strikes break out in the factory district.
Three very different people may hold the key to the city’s survival but only if they can put aside their own personal vendettas.
The philosopher-assassin Kata has debts that need settling and will do anything to ensure they’re met – but can she put a price on the ultimate betrayal? Meanwhile the ambitious bureaucrat Boris Autec rises through the ranks, turning his back on everything he once believed, and soon his private life turns to ashes. Elsewhere, the idealistic seditionist Maximilian resolves to overturn the tyranny dominating the city, and hatches a mad plot to unlock the secrets of the Great Library of Caeli Enas, drowned in the fabled city at the bottom of the sea.
In a novel of startling originality and riveting suspense, these three individuals risk everything for a future they can only create by throwing off the shackles of tradition and superstition. As their destinies collide, the destruction will either transform the ancient city . . . or ruin it.””

In a world where all the fictions ever written coalesce into a rich mosaic, it’s 1975. Janni Dakkar, pirate queen of Lincoln Island and head of the fabled Nemo family, is eighty years old and beginning to display a tenuous grasp on reality. Pursuing shadows from her past – or her imagination – she embarks on what may be a final voyage down the vastness of the Amazon, a last attempt to put to rest the blood-drenched spectres of old.
With allies and adversaries old and new, we accompany an aging predator on her obsessive trek into the cultural landscape of a strange new continent, from the ruined city of Yu-Atlanchi to the fabulous plateau of Maple White Land. As the dark threads in her narrative are drawn into an inescapable web, Captain Nemo leads her hearse-black Nautilus in a desperate raid on horrors believed dead for decades.
Through the exotic spectacle of an imagined South America, Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill steer their fifty-year-long Nemo trilogy to its remarkable conclusion, borne upon a River of Ghosts.
