So here’s Al’s heads up on those hidden gems he’s been discovering and is planning on seeing in the months to come. Check them out…

Friday 20th November – Alpha Male Tea Party at the Windmill, Brixton

Liverpool’s finest purveyors of instrumental post-rock noisiness bring their bone-crunching riffs and comedy song titles to South London. With entry just a fiver and four top-notch acts on the bill, this is one not to be missed.

Wednesday 25th November – Built to Spill at the Electric Ballroon, Camden

Doug Martsch’s legendary Idaho guitar poppers celebrate the re-release of ‘There’s Nothing Wrong With Love’ (one of the finest albums of the 90s) by unspooling their memorable melodies and soloing like Neil Young, right in the heart of Camden.

Friday 11th December – Idlewild at Koko, Camden

A chance to see the reformed indie-rockers celebrate two decades as one of Scotland’s finest and most consistent acts. A favourite of movie star Jay Baruchel, expect Idlewild’s Greatest Hits to mingle with tunes from this year’s comeback ‘Everything Ever Written’ with Roddy Woomble and co. proving they’ve still got it.
